Is 1-800-Bunkbed a franchise?
NO. This is your business. There are no huge upfront fees
and we will never take any percentage of your sales.
How fast can I be making money?
From the time that you receive your manual to the time you make your first sale
should not be more than 2 weeks.
How do I generate sales?
Volume 2 of the business manual goes over all the unique advertising, marketing
and sales techniques that I have developed over 17 years in this business. The question
shouldn't be "How do I generate sales", but "how many sales do you
want to make"?
How much money can I make in this business?
As a general rule if you are working 1-800-Bunkbed around
20 hours per week by yourself and you are not making $50,000 annually there is a
problem. If you are set up to run a production shop, have employees and have a multiple
county protected territory you should be bringing in a hefty six figure income.
What degree of skill does it require to make your bunk beds?
If you have done any type of carpentry (even just rough
framing) you should have no trouble making these bunk beds. I had never made a piece
of furniture before and within 1 week I was making and selling my bunk beds. I would
even go as far as to say that even if you have had no woodworking
experience you should be able to master our business.
What is a protected territory?
When you purchase our business opportunity you choose an area that only you will
be allowed to operate in. This is your protected territory. It is made up of counties. When someone calls 1-800-Bunkbed from your protected
county the calls are routed to your phone at your location.

How large should my protected territory be?
Some of the factors you should consider in deciding the size of your territory are:
- Are you going to work this business full or part-time?
- Are you going to have employees?
- How large do you anticipate growing this business?
If you are going to work this business part time with no employees then 1 territory
should suffice. This will give you approximately a 120,000 population to draw
from. If you are thinking of doing this full time, with employees and expansion
possibilities then you should be looking to have multiple territories.
How can more than 1 business use the same phone number (1-800-Bunkbed)?
Until very recently you couldn't. 1-800-Bunkbed has contracted with a highly specialized
telecommunication company that is able to route calls coming into 1-800-Bunkbed
to exact locations. This can be done by State, county, zip code or even street
address. We have decided the best approach was to divide up the protected territories
by counties. All this boils down to is the fact that
when your customers call 1-800-Bunkbed from within your protected territory those
calls will ring at your location on your phone.
What kind of woodworking tools will I need?
When I started this business the only tools I had were:
- A circular saw
- A hand drill
- A palm sander
I probably made my first 100 or so beds with just those tools mentioned above. As
I made more money I obviously bought additional tools. But, just to get started,
those were the only tools I had. There is a section in the manual that goes over
all the tools you should have to run a production shop.
How much space is needed to run this business?
My first "shop" consisted of an 80 square foot plastic tent that was attached to
the apartment I was living in at the time. The "shop" had a work table in the middle
with just enough room for me to walk around it. Oh, and the "shop" was unheated
which is not pleasant when you live in New England during the winter. Even though
it was a pain in the butt, I worked in this small area for about the first year.
I would recommend that you have at least 200 square feet to start. You can successfully
run this business from a garage, basement, spare room or from an existing business
that has some extra space it would be willing to rent to you.

Do the beds have to be delivered?
The short answer is no. If you don't have the time or inclination to bother with
delivery, the finished beds can be picked up at you shop by the customer as long
as they have a mini-van, truck or station wagon. BUT,
think about delivery this way. How would you like to have a new truck
or van? What is a new truck's monthly cost? I'm talking about a nice
truck. Probably $300-$400.If you charge $100 for delivery and set up (this should
be your minimum charge) it would only take 3-4 sales per month to pay for that truck.
That's how I worked it and I always had 2 new trucks in the driveway!
What kind of support will I receive if I have questions?

once you come on board, we make it a priority to help you when you ask for it. That
is why our number 1 producing 1-800-BunkBed business owner, Steve Everett, will
be available to assist you when you need it. Steve will answer your question personally
and individually. You don't have to worry about being forced to go to a "LIVE CHAT"
