Running your very own woodworking business is both fun and rewarding. You get to use your expertise in your craft to support your family and benefit your community. When you manage a woodworking business, you hone not only your woodworking skills but also your business ability. In this blog, we share what we’ve learned over the years.
Here is a simple and inexpensive way to increase sales for your woodworking business. By using this simple and very under used advertising method you should be able to increase your sales Here’s how:
Follow this method when using vehicle signage. When I had a fleet of trucks I had the signs put in usual places; on the doors. But, I also made it mandatory that we had at least 1 sign on the back of our trucks. Think about it. How many times are you in back of a truck on the highway or in town. The number of times I would get a call after delivering a bunk bed only to find out the person calling me was right behind me. That person would either follow me right to my shop which usually ended up with a sale or I made an appointment later in the week. Either way it was good for business and all it cost me was a $50 sign. Try it!
As an aside: Before making this post I searched my professional picture data base which is made up 3 different companies that sell pictures to end users, (like myself). I wanted to see for myself how many trucks have signs on the back of their trucks. Guess what? Things have not changed. I went through thousands of pictures with the search terms being “truck signage”The vast majority of these trucks have no signage at all on the back. Be smart and try this out. It pays off in a big way.
